» James gave his Golden Globe award--which he won for his portrayal of James Dean--to his mother.

» James studied English for a year at UCLA before dropping out to become an actor.

» James was one of People Magazine's "50 Hottest Bachelors in 2004." He again appeared in the magazine as one of the "Sexiest Men Alive" in 2007.

» James enjoys painting in his free time. Some of his work has been shown in galleries, such as the Glu Gallery in Los Angeles. Also, his ex-girlfriend Marla Sokoloff has some, which was still hanging in an episode of Cribs. James says that a member of the band Third Eye Blind also has some of his work.
