"I know the two main questions I'm going to be asked in the next year are 'How much pot did you smoke?'' and ''What was it like to kiss Sean Penn?'" - James on Milk and Pineapple Express

Student fundraiser helps teenage moms: Last fall, Ava McLeod, 17, faced a dilemma few teenage girls have probably confronted.
The senior at San Francisco's Bay School was worried how the judges at the Miss California Teen USA pageant she had entered would feel about her senior project, which entailed producing a fashion show to raise money for unwed teen mothers and pregnant teens. For the record, Ava's response to the "love of your life" question was "James Franco." But more on the pageant later. ...Read More?

Ellen Page riveting in a tale of true crime and torture:The lure of seeing Ellen Page in a new film so soon after her winning performance in "Juno" is terrific. The additional pull of Bradley Whitford ("Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip") and Catherine Keener ("Into the Wild"), plus James Franco in "Freaks and Geeks," amazing in the title role in TV's "James Dean," reliably goblin-like in the "Spider-Man" franchise and who's drawing raves for this summer's "Pineapple Express," may be irresistible. They all give admirable performances in the upcoming true-crime movie...Read More?

MTV Movie Award Nominations Show Some McLovin To 'Superbad,' 'Juno,' 'Transformers' And More:From affectionate spoofs to gushing tributes, for 16 years the MTV Movie Awards have been about celebrating the best in film and recognizing Hollywood's biggest stars. This year, finally, the show is getting a little McLovin back...AIRS JUNE 1It'll be a fight to the finish, but nothing like the kind of brawls that are nominated this year in the category of Best Fight, which include Damon vs. Joey Asah, for their rooftop rumble in "The Bourne Ultimatum"; Tobey Maguire vs. James Franco, for their superhero smackdown in "Spider-Man 3"...Read More? Pineapple Express Once Again: I can remember three times in recent memory when I saw a movie with an audience that laughed so loudly...Mr. Franco plays Saul, a lank-haired, unkempt pot dealer who is his own best customer; his second best is Dale, played by Seth Rogen...Read More?&Read More?

Film Underground Presents: "Freaks and Geeks" and "undeclared": Thumbing through the pages of TV Guide over recent years, one observes a mass of unrealistic dramas about implausible situations, in which schools are dissimilar to any with which we would actually be familiar. There are, however, some television shows which break the mold, and offer moving, perceptive scripts that capture the essence of a generation and the actual events of adolescence. This week, Film Underground is proud to present two shows, which avoid the norm, and have interesting comments to make as well as humor to share: Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared.

Flyboys Blu-ray Review: Mutter Lafayette Escardrille to your friends and they’ll incorrectly associate the term with an entrée at a French restaurant, if anything at all. To World War I historians, the Lafayette Escardrille represents a small cadre of American pilots who fought bravely alongside the French in the world’s first warplanes before the United States even entered the war...Read More?

*Sean Penn My Top Love, James Franco Says: James Franco, who plays Sean Penn's lover in the upcoming Harvey Milk movie, was asked by Entertainment Weekly how he would rate Sean Penn in terms of his onscreen romances. "The top! He's a little hairier than those other ones, but oh well...," Franco quipped, referring to actresses such as Kirsten Dunst, Neve Campbell, and Catherine Keener....Read More?

**Down to Earthwords: As the Iowa City rumor mill turns incessantly, word gets around. Supposedly Spiderman and "Freaks and Geeks" eye-candy actor James Franco recently visited the UI to explore finishing his education, only to allegedly (and foolishly) enroll in UCLA's creative writing program. Although it's hard to compete with LA's towering glitz, today's release of the 28th installment of Earthwords, the UI's undergraduate literary review, proves that the most captivating and creative collegiate writing scene has a 319 area code.....Read More?

James Franco on Embracing the Funny || Posted By Melanie | On 14 May 2008
SJ sent this (its an ENTIRE INTERVIEW!):
James Franco (Spider-Man) and younger brother Dave (he of the 10-second Superbad cameo) have teamed up for a series of Web videos on FunnyOrDie.com, where they put on display their special brand of brotherhood. Dubbed ''Acting With James Franco'' and taped in the Los Angeles apartment they share, the clips feature a cheerfully preening and impatient James doling out pearls of thespian wisdom to an uncomfortable and unconvinced Dave. In the first installment, which claims to have attracted over 120,000 views since going up last month, James teaches the art of crying on camera through the anguished sense memory of his childhood cat's sudden death. The second video, which debuted yesterday, sees James giving a practical lesson on the intricacies of greenscreen acting in a multibillion-dollar-grossing comic-book trilogy...
